Borates are used in the production of liquid detergents and industrial cleaners to enhance stain removal and bleaching. They are mainly known for their role in stabilising enzymes used in detergents such as proteases, amylases and lipases. In addition, borates provide a number of other benefits such as pH buffering, inhibiting dye transfer and controlling bacterial growth.
The borates used for this application are mainly boric acid, sodium tetraborate and sodium metaborate. All these products are supplied in powder form which suffer from slow dissolution and from caking and dustiness during handling which lead to poor feeding and metering into the production process.
At Semfill, we have the capability of supplying liquid forms of these powders as suspensions or solutions. These liquids can also be mixed with other ingredients used in detergents such as sorbitol or mannitol. If you are interested in testing a liquid form of borate for liquid detergent applications please speak to our technical team to discuss your needs and we will provide you with the most suitable liquid for your process.
